High-Concentration CO₂ Micro-Foam Cleanser for Pores, Dullness & Dehydrated Skin
Cleansing without the rubbing.
SpaOxy Foaming Wash is Dr. Medion’s high-concentration carbonated facial cleanser, dispensing an exceptionally dense micro-foam containing more than 10,000 ppm of carbon dioxide.
One pump produces a cushion of fine, elastic foam designed to lift away excess sebum, pore debris, dead skin cells and everyday impurities while minimising unnecessary friction against the skin.
But this isn’t simply a “deep-cleansing” foam.
The formula combines three human-type ceramides, Pentavitin®, Tremella mushroom polysaccharide and Placenta Extract to help maintain hydration and barrier comfort while cleansing.
Think of it as:
foam → lift → cleanse → hydrate → soften.
WHY I LIKE SPAOXY FOAMING WASH
Because cleansing is something we do every single day — which means the way we cleanse matters enormously.
You do not need to scrub your face until it feels squeaky to know it is clean.
In fact, that tight, stripped feeling after cleansing is usually not something I am trying to achieve.
SpaOxy Foaming Wash takes a much gentler approach.
It creates the dense foam for you, so instead of repeatedly rubbing cleanser between your hands and across your face, the elastic foam creates a cushion between your fingers and the skin.
At the same time, the extremely fine bubbles help loosen impurities and excess sebum from the skin and pores.
WHO IS SPAOXY FOAMING WASH FOR?
Visible or congested pores
When excess sebum and debris make pores appear more noticeable.
Blackheads and pore congestion
The micro-foam is designed to help loosen stubborn sebum and impurities sitting within the pores.
Dull skin
When accumulated oil, debris and dead surface cells are taking away some of the skin’s natural brightness.
Dry and dehydrated skin
When you want effective cleansing without that uncomfortable stripped feeling afterwards.
Sensitive or delicate skin
Particularly if excessive rubbing tends to leave your face red or irritated.
Combination and oily skin
When you want to remove excess sebum without turning cleansing into an aggressive degreasing exercise.
Ageing skin
Where minimising unnecessary friction while maintaining hydration becomes increasingly important.
Anyone using Dr. Medion’s CO₂ treatments
It makes an excellent first step before SpaOxy Gel or SpaOxy Dualgel VC+.
Dr. Medion positions it for sensitive/dry skin, pore care and ageing care, making this a surprisingly versatile cleanser rather than one intended only for oily skin.
WHAT MAKES THE FOAM DIFFERENT?
This is where SpaOxy Foaming Wash becomes much more interesting than an ordinary foaming cleanser.
The formula contains more than 10,000 ppm of carbon dioxide, creating extremely fine micro-bubbles.
According to Dr. Medion, one recommended application contains approximately 400 million bubbles, with the bubbles measuring less than half the size of a typical pore.
The practical advantage is simple: the tiny bubbles can work around the uneven surface of the skin and pores while the dense foam physically cushions your fingers.
So instead of - rub harder to cleanse better,we have - let the foam do more of the work.
WHY DOES FRICTION MATTER?
Your skin is not a kitchen surface. More scrubbing does not automatically mean cleaner.
Repeated mechanical friction can be particularly unhelpful for skin that is: sensitive, dry, reactive, acne-prone or already dealing with a compromised barrier.
The thick SpaOxy foam creates a cushion so your fingertips can glide over the foam rather than repeatedly dragging directly against the skin.
This is why I would describe the cleanser as friction-minimising, rather than simply “gentle.” The technique matters just as much as the formula.
DOES THE CO₂ “OPEN” THE PORES?
No. Pores do not literally open and close like tiny doors.
What we can do is remove some of the sebum, keratin and debris sitting within and around them. Once that material is removed, pores can look cleaner & smoother and less noticeable.
That is a much more accurate way to describe what a pore cleanser is doing.
THREE HUMAN-TYPE CERAMIDES — CLEANSING WITHOUT FORGETTING THE BARRIER
SpaOxy Foaming Wash contains: Ceramide NP, Ceramide NG, Ceramide AP.
Ceramides are naturally important components of the skin barrier.
They help maintain the lipid structure responsible for keeping moisture inside the skin and protecting it from the outside environment.
Why put ceramides in a cleanser that we are going to rinse off?
Because cleansing is precisely the stage where we have the greatest potential to remove too much.
The aim is not simply - remove dirt. It is- remove what we don't want while respecting what the skin actually needs.
PENTAVITIN® - THE MOISTURE MAGNET
Pentavitin® is Saccharide Isomerate, a carbohydrate-based humectant used for long-lasting hydration. Dr. Medion includes it specifically to help maintain moisture and prevent the dry, tight feeling that can follow cleansing.
This is particularly useful if your skin has ever felt perfectly comfortable before washing and strangely two sizes too small afterwards.
A cleanser should leave your skin clean. Not desperate for moisturiser within thirty seconds.
TREMELLA FUCIFORMIS — SNOW MUSHROOM HYDRATION
Tremella Fuciformis polysaccharide — often called Snow Mushroom — is another moisture-supporting ingredient in the formula.
Its polysaccharides have excellent water-binding and skin-conditioning properties.
Combined with Pentavitin® and the ceramide complex, it helps explain why SpaOxy Foaming Wash can give a thorough cleanse without leaving the complexion feeling aggressively stripped.
Think - clean pores + comfortable skin.
PLACENTA EXTRACT
SpaOxy Foaming Wash also contains Placental Extract, used in Japanese skincare for its mixture of naturally occurring amino acids and other skin-conditioning components.
Within a rinse-off cleanser, I would keep expectations realistic.
This is not the ingredient I would buy the product for as a transformative anti-ageing treatment. Its role here is better understood as part of the formula's moisturising and conditioning system.
A cleanser has one primary job - clean the skin well without making it unhappy. Everything else is a bonus.
WILL IT HELP BLACKHEADS?
It can help with the surface oil, keratin and debris contributing to visible pore congestion and blackheads. Dr. Medion specifically positions the micro-carbonated foam for stubborn sebum, dead skin cells and pore impurities.
But let's keep our expectations sensible. A cleanser cannot permanently eliminate pores or guarantee that blackheads never return.
Sebum production continues. Skin cells continue to shed. Your pores continue being pores. Regular, effective cleansing simply helps prevent unnecessary accumulation.
WILL IT MAKE MY SKIN DRY?
It is specifically formulated to avoid that stripped post-cleansing feeling.
Alongside its cleansing agents, the formula contains: Glycerin, Propanediol, Pentavitin®, Tremella polysaccharide, three ceramides and Phytosphingosine.
That makes it particularly interesting for someone who likes the freshness of a foaming cleanser but normally finds foams too drying.
CAN SENSITIVE SKIN USE IT?
Yes.
Dr. Medion specifically recommends SpaOxy Foaming Wash for delicate and sensitive complexions, and the dense foam is designed to minimise the need for friction.
There is one detail I would still point out. The formula contains Orange Oil.
That does not automatically make the product unsuitable for sensitive skin, but if you know your skin reacts specifically to essential oils or citrus-derived fragrance components, individual tolerance matters. “Sensitive skin friendly” never means every sensitive person will respond identically.
IS IT A CLEANSER OR A CO₂ TREATMENT?
Primarily a cleanser.
Yes, it contains a high concentration of carbon dioxide. Yes, it belongs to Dr. Medion's SpaOxy carbonated skincare family. But I would not confuse a 20-second daily cleansing step with the more intensive CO₂ experience of SpaOxy Gel or SpaOxy Dualgel VC+.
Think of the range like this:
SPAOXY FOAMING WASH = daily carbonated cleansing
SPAOXY DUALGEL VC+ = quick intensive CO₂ + Vitamin C treatment
SPAOXY GEL = longer intensive carbonated mask treatment
Different levels. Different purposes. One very clever carbonated skincare family.
HOW TO USE SPAOXY FOAMING WASH
First, wet your face thoroughly with lukewarm water. Dr. Medion specifically recommends this pre-rinse because wetting the skin helps the cleanser spread more easily and can reduce unnecessary irritation from cleansing agents.
Shake the can well. Keep the container upright and dispense approximately a ping-pong-ball-sized amount — around 3 cm in diameter — into your hand.
Apply the foam over the face and gently massage using small circular movements for approximately 20 seconds. Do not press hard. Do not scrub. Let the foam cushion create the movement.
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and continue with the rest of your skincare routine.
Simple. Wet skin → shake → dispense foam → massage gently for 20 seconds → rinse → continue skincare.
CAN I USE IT EVERY DAY?
Yes. SpaOxy Foaming Wash is designed as a daily cleanser. Depending on your skin and routine, you can use it morning and/or evening.
For dry or very sensitive skin, one thorough evening cleanse may sometimes be all you need.
For combination or oilier skin, twice-daily cleansing may feel more appropriate.
There is no prize for washing your face more often than your skin actually needs.
DOES IT REMOVE MAKEUP?
I would treat SpaOxy Foaming Wash primarily as your facial cleansing step, rather than relying on it to dissolve every type of makeup.
If you are wearing heavy foundation, water-resistant makeup or substantial sunscreen, remove those first with an appropriate makeup remover first.
Then follow with SpaOxy Foaming Wash. That allows the carbonated foam to actually cleanse the skin, rather than spending its entire twenty seconds negotiating with waterproof mascara.
CAN I USE IT BEFORE SPAOXY GEL?
Absolutely. In fact, this is where the routine becomes particularly satisfying.
SpaOxy Foaming Wash removes excess oil, debris and surface impurities first. You can then apply your SpaOxy Gel treatment to properly cleansed skin.
Think - FOAMING WASH = prepare, SPAOXY GEL = treat
Dr. Medion also recommends combining the Foaming Wash with other products in the SpaOxy carbonated skincare range.
THE BOTTOM LINE
SpaOxy Foaming Wash is the cleanser I choose when I want a genuinely thorough cleanse that feels soft, without turning washing the face into an exfoliation technique.
More than 10,000 ppm of carbon dioxide creates an exceptionally fine, dense foam designed to lift away excess sebum, dead surface cells and pore debris while minimising friction.
The result we want is: cleaner-looking pores, less excess oil and debris, smoother texture, fresher-looking skin.
Without the tight, stripped finish that so often comes with a “deep-cleaning” cleanser.
It is an especially good introduction to Dr. Medion's carbonated skincare philosophy because it takes something as ordinary as washing your face and makes the technology genuinely useful.
