Dr. Medion Head Spa Shampoo is a carbonated foam shampoo that dispenses as a ready-made, dense lather to cleanse the scalp and hair without the vigorous rubbing needed to build a traditional shampoo foam.

The formula combines carbon dioxide with gentle cleansing agents to remove dirt and excess sebum, while Pentavitin®, FiberHance™ BM, CUTI-PRO™ Lotus Extract and a multivitamin complex provide complementary moisture, strengthening and conditioning care.

The result is a thoroughly cleansed, refreshed scalp with hair that feels soft, smooth and full of body rather than stripped.  

Why I like Head Spa Shampoo

Because the foam format isn’t just about making shampoo feel luxurious — it also makes cleansing very easy.

The shampoo comes out of the dispenser already as a rich, dense foam, so there is less need to rub and manipulate wet hair simply to create a lather. I particularly like that for fine, weakened, colour-treated or easily tangled hair where unnecessary friction isn’t helpful.

Who is it for?

Head Spa Shampoo is particularly useful for scalps prone to excess sebum, buildup or a heavy feeling, including people who regularly use styling products or dry shampoo.

At the same time, its moisturising ingredients make it suitable when the scalp tends to feel dry or dehydrated.

I also like the ready-made foam format for fine, flat, weakened, colour-treated or easily tangled hair where you want thorough cleansing without unnecessary rubbing.

Why carbonated foam?

Unlike a conventional liquid shampoo that needs to be worked into a lather, Head Spa Shampoo dispenses directly as a rich, dense foam.

This allows it to distribute quickly across the scalp and hair with less vigorous manipulation. Because wet hair is more vulnerable to mechanical damage, I particularly like this approach for fragile, chemically treated or easily tangled hair.

The foam also makes it easier to concentrate cleansing where it is needed most: at the scalp and roots.

How to use

Thoroughly wet the scalp and hair with warm water.

Without shaking the bottle, dispense a palm-sized amount of foam. Dr. Medion recommends approximately a 5 cm diameter amount for medium-length hair, adjusting according to hair length and density.

Apply directly to the scalp and hair and massage gently with your fingertips. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.  

Follow with Head Spa Treatment through the hair lengths, avoiding the scalp.

Head Spa Shampoo can be used daily or as part of your regular hair-washing routine.  

Good to know

The formula is described by Dr. Medion as sulfate-free, non-cationic and hypoallergenic.  

Orange is the main note in its fresh botanical aroma, accompanied by Eucalyptus, Lavender, Damask Rose and Clary Sage oils. Those who prefer fragrance-free haircare may wish to take this into consideration.
