When your body needs depth, movement and space — not just relaxation.
Chavutti Uzhichil is a traditional bodywork practice from Kerala, South India, rooted in the world of Kalaripayattu - Kerala’s ancient martial-art tradition.
What makes it extraordinary is the technique: I massage primarily with my feet, using an overhead support to control balance, body weight and pressure. Warm oil and long, continuous movements allow for deep work across larger areas of the body in a way that feels very different from hands, thumbs or elbows.
The result can be powerful - but it isn’t about applying maximum pressure. The broad surface of the foot allows for deep yet flowing work, continuously adapted to your body.
What makes it different?
Unlike Deep Tissue Massage, which often concentrates on particular muscles and areas of tension, Chavutti works through longer lines and movements across the body.
It can be particularly satisfying when you:
- Feel stiff, compressed or physically overworked
- Need depth but also want movement and flow
- Want to experience bodywork in a completely different way
Despite its strength, the repetitive rhythm, warm oil and broad pressure make the treatment surprisingly grounding and meditative.
My approach
I respect the traditional character of Chavutti Uzhichil while adapting each session to your body, sensitivity and preferred pressure.
Think less “a stronger massage” and more an entirely different language of touch - deep, flowing, grounding and whole-body.
