Meder Hydra-Fill Deeply Moisturising Active Serum
Meder Hydra-Fill Deeply Moisturising Active Serum
When your skin keeps asking for moisture, Hydra-Fill helps it learn how to hold onto it.
Hydra-Fill is not simply a hyaluronic acid serum that makes the skin feel hydrated for a few hours.
And this is important, because there are hundreds of hydrating serums that can temporarily make dry skin feel better.
Hydra-Fill is more interesting than that.
The aim here is not only to give the skin water, but to help improve the way the skin holds onto that water.
That makes it particularly useful when skin feels persistently dry, tight, flaky or dehydrated β especially when you keep applying moisturiser but somehow never feel properly moisturised.
I think of it as:
hydrate β hold β restore β strengthen.
WHY I LIKE HYDRA-FILL
Dryness is one of those skin concerns that people often try to solve by simply applying something richer.
Skin feels dry?
Buy a heavier cream.
Still dry?
Add an oil.
Still dry?
Apply even more.
But sometimes the problem isn't simply that we're not putting enough moisture onto the skin.
The skin may not be retaining water efficiently.
That's a very different problem.
Hydra-Fill approaches hydration from several directions at once.
We have different forms of hyaluronic acid providing hydration.
We have Aquaxylβ’ helping support the skin's ability to manage and retain water.
We have Arctalysβ’ supporting the proteins and lipids involved in healthy skin structure.
And we have biofermented glycine helping create a healthier environment for the skin microbiome while addressing flaking.
So instead of endlessly topping up dry skin from the outside, we're trying to help the skin become better at maintaining hydration for itself.
That's why I consider Hydra-Fill much more than "another hyaluronic acid serum."
WHAT DOES HYDRA-FILL ACTUALLY DO?
Hydra-Fill works on both the immediate feeling of dryness and the bigger problem behind persistent dehydration.
First, it delivers water-binding ingredients to the skin.
This helps the complexion feel softer, smoother and more comfortable.
Fine dehydration lines can look less obvious because properly hydrated skin naturally appears plumper.
But Hydra-Fill doesn't stop there.
Its prebiotic and probiotic components help support the skin's water-holding capacity, protective structures and microbiome.
That matters because hydration isn't simply about how much water we put onto the skin.
It's about how effectively the skin can keep it there.
So rather than:
skin feels dry β add moisture β skin feels dry again β add more
we're trying to create:
hydrate β improve retention β support the barrier β maintain comfort.
WHO IS HYDRA-FILL FOR?
I particularly like Hydra-Fill for skin that is:
Dry
When the skin persistently feels tight, rough or uncomfortable and needs more intensive moisture support.
Dehydrated
When the skin lacks water β even if you wouldn't normally describe your skin type as dry.
Flaky
When visible flaking or rough surface texture is part of the problem.
Mature
When declining water retention contributes to loss of plumpness, elasticity and comfort.
Showing fine dehydration lines
When lack of water is making small lines appear more noticeable.
Sun-stressed or sun-damaged
When environmental exposure has affected the skin's hydration and overall condition.
Temporarily dry because of travel, weather or stress
Long flights, cold weather, heating, air conditioning and environmental changes can all leave normally comfortable skin suddenly feeling dehydrated.
Recovering after certain professional treatments
Hydra-Fill can be particularly useful when dryness and compromised hydration occur following aesthetic procedures, once your practitioner has advised that appropriate homecare can resume.
And importantly:
you don't need to have a naturally dry skin type to become dehydrated.
Oily skin can be dehydrated.
Acne-prone skin can be dehydrated.
Combination skin can be dehydrated.
Hydration is a skin condition as well as something we consider within skin type.
DRY SKIN OR DEHYDRATED SKIN β WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
These two terms are often used as if they mean exactly the same thing.
They don't.
Dry skin generally refers to a skin type that doesn't produce enough of the lipids and oils needed to maintain comfort and protection.
Dehydrated skin refers primarily to a lack of water.
And you can absolutely have both.
But you can also have oily skin that is dehydrated.
That's why somebody can tell me:
"My skin gets oily, but somehow it also feels tight."
That isn't necessarily a contradiction.
Your skin can produce plenty of oil and still struggle with water balance.
This is why I don't automatically treat every person complaining of dehydration with a heavier, oilier cream.
First we need to understand:
Does your skin need more oil? More water? Better water retention? Barrier support? Or a combination?
Hydra-Fill is particularly interesting when water and water retention are central to the problem.
WHY DOES SKIN LOSE WATER?
Your skin is constantly interacting with the environment.
Water naturally moves through the skin and is lost from its surface.
A healthy skin barrier helps regulate that process.
But when the barrier isn't functioning optimally, or when environmental conditions are particularly drying, water can be lost more easily.
This can happen because of:
Cold weather.
Heating.
Air conditioning.
Sun exposure.
Long flights.
Over-cleansing.
Over-exfoliation.
Certain active skincare products.
Ageing.
Professional treatments.
Or simply your individual skin biology.
That's why dehydration isn't something that only happens to "dry skin people."
Almost anybody can experience it.
The question is whether it's a temporary situation or something your skin struggles with repeatedly.
WHY IS THE MICROBIOME IMPORTANT FOR HYDRATION?
We often talk about the microbiome when discussing sensitivity or acne, but it also matters when we're talking about dryness and water retention.
Your skin's microorganisms form part of the ecosystem involved in healthy barrier function.
When that ecosystem becomes disrupted, the skin may become less efficient at maintaining its normal protective environment.
This is one of the reasons Hydra-Fill doesn't rely on hyaluronic acid alone.
The formula includes prebiotic and probiotic ingredients designed to support the environment of beneficial skin microorganisms while helping discourage conditions associated with flaking.
So we're looking at hydration as something bigger than simply putting water-binding molecules onto the surface.
We're looking at the whole environment that allows the skin to stay hydrated.
HOW TO USE HYDRA-FILL
Hydra-Fill is an active care serum, so it comes after your everyday MEDER serum.
Think:
cleanser β Energy-Soin or Soin-Apax β Hydra-Fill β cream
STEP 1 β CLEANSE
Start with your appropriate MEDER cleansing mask.
Use Energy-Net or Net-Apax according to your skin.
STEP 2 β APPLY YOUR EVERYDAY SERUM
Apply Energy-Soin if your skin is non-sensitive or Soin-Apax if we're taking the sensitive-skin route.
Allow it to absorb.
STEP 3 β APPLY HYDRA-FILL
Apply a small amount of Hydra-Fill evenly over the face.
You don't need to overload the skin.
A light, even layer is enough.
STEP 4 β ALLOW IT TO ABSORB
Give the serum a moment to settle.
There's no need for aggressive massage.
STEP 5 β FINISH YOUR ROUTINE
Follow with your selected MEDER moisturiser.
During the day, finish with appropriate sun protection.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE IT?
Hydra-Fill is designed to be used morning and evening.
For targeted active care, MEDER recommends a course of approximately 5β10 weeks.
Depending on your skin, we may use a course several times during the year or decide that ongoing use makes sense.
This is where I want us to distinguish between:
everyday foundational skincare
and
targeted active care.
Your cleanser, everyday serum and moisturiser form the foundation.
Hydra-Fill is something we introduce because we're specifically trying to address dryness, dehydration, flaking or compromised water retention.
Every product should have a reason for being in your routine.
YOUR MORNING ROUTINE
1. Your MEDER Cleanser
Energy-Net or Net-Apax according to your skin.
2. Energy-Soin or Soin-Apax
Your everyday serum step.
3. Hydra-Fill
Your targeted hydration step.
4. Your MEDER Cream
5. SPF
YOUR EVENING ROUTINE
If you're wearing substantial makeup:
1. Remove your makeup
2. Your MEDER Cleanser
3. Energy-Soin or Soin-Apax
4. Hydra-Fill
5. Your MEDER Cream / Evening Care
Simple.
We're adding one targeted step because the skin needs it β not building an unnecessarily complicated routine.
WHY DOES HYDRA-FILL USE DIFFERENT FORMS OF HYALURONIC ACID?
You'll see hyaluronic acid everywhere in skincare.
But simply seeing the words "hyaluronic acid" on a bottle doesn't tell you the whole story.
The size and form of the molecule matter.
Hydra-Fill combines different forms and molecular sizes of hyaluronic acid so that hydration isn't limited to one level of the skin's surface.
The larger molecules are particularly useful for holding moisture closer to the surface.
Smaller forms can interact differently within the upper layers of the skin.
The idea is to create multi-level hydration rather than relying on one form of hyaluronic acid to do everything.
For you, the practical takeaway is much simpler:
we're trying to make the skin feel hydrated throughout, rather than simply coating the surface.
WHAT'S INSIDE IT?
Hydra-Fill is built around hydration, but the interesting part is how many different aspects of hydration the formula addresses.
HYALURONIC ACID
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in the skin and has an extraordinary ability to bind water.
Hydra-Fill uses different molecular forms of hyaluronic acid to support hydration at different levels.
When skin is properly hydrated, it naturally appears:
plumper
smoother
softer
more luminous
Fine dehydration lines can also become less noticeable simply because the skin isn't sitting in that tight, depleted state.
But remember:
hyaluronic acid is only one part of Hydra-Fill.
The real strength of the formula comes from what surrounds it.
PREBIOTIC AQUAXYLβ’
Aquaxylβ’ is one of the ingredients that makes Hydra-Fill particularly interesting to me.
It is derived from xylitol and is designed to help improve the way water moves through and is retained within the skin.
A simple way to think about it is:
Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water. Aquaxylβ’ helps the skin become better at managing that hydration.
It also forms part of MEDER's microbiome-conscious approach to dryness.
We're not simply flooding the skin with moisture.
We're trying to improve the conditions that allow hydration to last.
PROBIOTIC ARCTALYSβ’
Arctalysβ’ is a biotech ingredient derived from a microorganism discovered in deep Arctic waters.
Its role is particularly interesting because it supports the synthesis of proteins and lipids involved in the skin's protective structure.
That means we're connecting hydration with barrier quality.
Because there's little point giving the skin water if it isn't well equipped to hold onto it.
Arctalysβ’ also supports elasticity and firmness, which makes it particularly interesting when dehydration and ageing are happening together.
BIOFERMENTED GLYCINE
Biofermented glycine contributes to the microbiome side of Hydra-Fill.
It helps support an appropriately acidic skin environment and beneficial microflora while helping address flaking.
This matters because persistent flaking isn't always solved by physically scrubbing the flakes away.
Sometimes we need to ask why the skin is flaking in the first place.
Rather than constantly removing the symptom, Hydra-Fill is designed to help improve the environment associated with healthy, comfortable skin.
WHAT SHOULD MY SKIN FEEL LIKE AFTERWARDS?
Hydra-Fill should give the skin a feeling of:
Hydration. Comfort. Softness. Plumpness.
If your skin has been feeling tight, that uncomfortable stretched sensation should begin to improve.
Flaky areas should gradually become smoother.
And because properly hydrated skin reflects light differently, the complexion can start looking fresher and more luminous.
But Hydra-Fill is still a serum.
Don't expect it to feel like a rich moisturising cream.
We apply the serum for targeted hydration and then seal and support the skin with the appropriate moisturiser afterwards.
Each product has its job.
WILL HYDRA-FILL HELP WITH FINE LINES?
Yes β but we need to understand which fine lines we're talking about.
When skin is dehydrated, tiny lines can become much more noticeable.
Imagine a dry sponge compared with a hydrated one.
Once water is restored, the surface looks plumper and smoother.
Skin behaves in a much more complex way than a sponge, obviously, but the visual principle is useful.
Hydra-Fill can help soften the appearance of dehydration-related fine lines by restoring water and improving plumpness.
That doesn't mean it erases every wrinkle.
Expression lines, structural ageing and loss of collagen require different approaches.
This is why identifying the reason behind a line matters before deciding how to treat it.
CAN I APPLY HYDRA-FILL AROUND MY EYES?
This is one place where more hydration isn't necessarily better.
MEDER does not recommend applying Hydra-Fill directly around the eye area.
Why?
Because the skin around the eyes is extremely thin and the underlying tissue is particularly prone to retaining fluid.
Hydra-Fill has a strong water-binding action.
For somebody prone to under-eye puffiness, encouraging additional water retention in that area may actually make the problem more noticeable.
So keep Hydra-Fill for the face and use a product specifically designed for the eye area where needed.
Hydrated is good. Puffy is not the goal.
WHAT ABOUT AFTER PROFESSIONAL TREATMENTS?
Hydra-Fill can be particularly useful when dryness and dehydration occur following certain professional aesthetic treatments.
MEDER positions it for recovery following procedures including chemical peels, laser resurfacing, RF and HIFU.
Why does that make sense?
Because many professional treatments temporarily challenge the skin barrier and can leave the skin feeling dry, tight or uncomfortable during recovery.
Restoring hydration becomes an important part of supporting comfort.
However, the same rule applies here as with every post-procedure product:
your practitioner's aftercare instructions always come first.
Don't apply Hydra-Fill onto freshly treated skin simply because it's hydrating.
Different treatments have different recovery timelines.
Introduce it when you've been advised that your active homecare can resume.
CAN I USE HYDRA-FILL WHEN MY SKIN IS SENSITIVE?
Potentially, yes.
Hydra-Fill is designed for all skin types and is formulated around microbiome-friendly hydration.
But sensitivity is a broad term.
If your skin is simply dry and easily uncomfortable, Hydra-Fill may be exactly what it needs.
If your skin is actively inflamed, damaged or reacting to everything you apply, I may simplify your routine first.
Sometimes we start with:
Net-Apax β Soin-Apax β appropriate moisturiser
and introduce targeted care once the skin has settled.
Again, we're treating your skin, not blindly following a product chart.
HYDRA-FILL SERUM OR HYDRA-FILL MASK?
They have the same family name, but they don't do exactly the same job.
CHOOSE HYDRA-FILL ACTIVE SERUM IF...
We're trying to actively improve ongoing dryness, dehydration, flaking and the skin's ability to retain water.
This is your regular targeted treatment step, used morning and evening during your Hydra-Fill programme.
ADD HYDRA-FILL MASK IF...
You want an intensive weekly hydration and plumping treatment that gives the skin an immediate smoother, fresher and more luminous appearance.
The mask is used once or twice weekly.
The serum is the ongoing treatment.
They complement one another beautifully, but one doesn't simply duplicate the other.
WHEN WILL I SEE A DIFFERENCE?
Some of Hydra-Fill's effects can be appreciated very quickly.
The skin can feel more comfortable and hydrated from the beginning.
That tight, thirsty feeling may start to improve.
The complexion can look plumper and fresher.
But the bigger goal is improving the skin's ability to maintain hydration, and that requires consistency.
MEDER recommends using Hydra-Fill for approximately 5β10 weeks as a targeted course.
So don't judge the entire product based only on whether your skin feels moisturised five minutes after application.
We're interested in a much better question:
Does my skin become less persistently dry over time?
That's the result I care about.
WHAT SHOULD I USE AFTER HYDRA-FILL?
Hydra-Fill needs a moisturiser afterwards.
Which moisturiser depends on your skin.
For genuinely dry skin, Arma-Derm is a very natural pairing because it gives us the richer lipid and barrier support that dry skin often needs.
For skin that primarily needs lightweight hydration, Derma-Fill may be more appropriate.
If sensitivity is also a major concern, we may choose another cream according to that priority.
This is where understanding dry versus dehydrated becomes useful again.
Hydra-Fill deals with the water side of the equation.
Your moisturiser helps us complete the barrier and protection side.
That's how we build a routine rather than simply collecting products.
MY HYDRA-FILL RULES
If you remember nothing else from this page, remember these:
Dry and dehydrated are not the same thing.
Oily and combination skin can still lack water.
Hydration isn't only about adding water.
We also need the skin to retain it effectively.
Use it consistently.
For targeted care, think in terms of a 5β10 week programme rather than occasional application.
Morning and evening.
Hydra-Fill works as your targeted active step after your everyday serum.
Don't use it around the eyes.
Its strong water-binding action can contribute to puffiness in this delicate area.
Follow with moisturiser.
Hydra-Fill is your active hydration serum, not your final protective cream.
Don't scrub away persistent flaking.
We need to address why the skin is dry and flaky rather than constantly removing the evidence.
Professional aftercare comes first.
After laser, peels, RF, HIFU or other treatments, follow the instructions you've been given.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Hydra-Fill is the product I want you to think of when simply putting more cream on your face isn't solving the dryness.
We're going deeper into the hydration problem.
We're giving the skin hyaluronic acid to bind water.
We're supporting the mechanisms involved in water retention.
We're thinking about the barrier.
We're thinking about the microbiome.
And we're helping the skin move away from that cycle of:
dry β moisturise β dry again.
That's what makes Hydra-Fill interesting.
It isn't simply about making your skin feel moisturised today.
The bigger goal is helping your skin become better at staying hydrated tomorrow.
HYDRA-FILL AT A GLANCE
What is it?
A deeply moisturising targeted active serum designed to improve hydration and the skin's water-holding capacity.
Best for:
Dry, dehydrated, flaky and mature skin, fine dehydration lines, sun-stressed skin and appropriate post-treatment care.
Can oily skin use it?
Yes. Oiliness and dehydration are different things, so oily or combination skin can still require targeted hydration.
How often?
Morning and evening.
How long should I use it?
MEDER recommends a targeted course of approximately 5β10 weeks. It can also be used longer term when appropriate.
Where does it go in my routine?
After Energy-Soin or Soin-Apax and before your moisturiser.
Can I use it around my eyes?
No. MEDER recommends keeping Hydra-Fill away from the eye area because its strong water-retaining action may contribute to puffiness.
