For when your mind is still running long after you have asked it to stop.

Tension doesn't only settle in the shoulders. It can build around the base of the skull, neck, temples, forehead, scalp and jaw - sometimes leaving you with that familiar feeling of pressure, heaviness or simply being unable to fully switch off.

This focused treatment combines massage of the scalp, head, neck and shoulders, with facial and jaw work incorporated where needed.

Rather than following the same sequence every time, I adapt the session to where you are actually holding tension.

More than a scalp massage

The head and neck don't exist separately from the rest of the body.

Tight shoulders can influence the neck. The neck connects into the base of the skull. Stress can show up as a clenched jaw, tense temples or a forehead that never quite seems to soften.

That is why I approach this treatment as a connected area rather than simply massaging the scalp.

Depending on what I find, the session may include:

  • Scalp & head massage
  • Neck and base-of-skull work
  • Shoulders & upper trapezius
  • Temples & forehead
  • Facial massage
  • Jaw & masseter work

Pressure can range from slow and deeply relaxing to more focused work through areas of muscular tension.

When might you choose it?

Head Massage can be particularly lovely when you experience neck and shoulder tension, jaw clenching, a heavy or tired-feeling head, mental overload, long hours at a screen, difficulty switching off, or simply when you want deep relaxation without booking a full-body massage.

And sometimes there doesn't need to be a problem to fix.

There is something profoundly calming about having the head held, worked and cared for while the rest of the body is allowed to be still.

Oil or no oil?

This treatment is traditionally performed with a small amount of nourishing oil worked through the scalp, adding another layer of warmth, touch and sensory relaxation to the experience.

If needed, it can exceptionally be performed without oil, making it easier to continue with your day afterwards.

When choosing the oil treatment, please keep in mind that oil will remain in the hair after your massage.

A small area of the body can hold an extraordinary amount of tension. Sometimes working there is enough to make everything else feel quieter.
